Accurate attachment fitment begins with the excavator model and the connection dimensions. A short set of measurements can prevent ambiguity when requesting a bucket, thumb or quick coupler from a supplier.
1. Record the Excavator Information
Start with the brand, full model designation and operating weight. Machines with similar names can use different booms, sticks, pins or regional configurations, so the model alone should not replace physical measurements.
- Manufacturer and model
- Operating weight or machine class
- Serial number range when relevant
- Existing coupler make and model, if fitted
2. Measure the Pin Diameter
Measure the outside diameter of each attachment pin with a suitable caliper. If the two pins differ, record both values and identify which is nearest the stick and which is nearest the linkage.
3. Measure Pin-Center Distance
Measure from the center of one pin to the center of the other. A practical approach is to measure consistently from the same edge of each equal-diameter pin; when diameters differ, a drawing with centerlines is clearer.
4. Measure the Inside Ear Width
Record the clear inside distance between the attachment ears where the stick or coupler fits. Also note any spacers, bosses or offset features that affect usable width.
5. Add Photos or a Dimensioned Sketch
Provide straight-on side and front photographs with the measuring tool visible. A simple sketch identifying pin diameter, pin centers and ear width is often more useful than multiple unlabelled photos.
Direct-Pin vs Coupler Fitment
State whether the attachment will pin directly to the excavator or connect through a quick coupler. For a coupler request, list the attachments the coupler must pick up; mixed pin dimensions may change the required solution.
Excavator Attachment Fitment Checklist
- Machine brand, model and weight
- Front and rear pin diameters
- Pin-center distance
- Inside ear width
- Direct-pin or coupler connection
- Application, material and required quantity
Request an Attachment Quote
Tell SJ Attachment your machine model, attachment type, quantity, application and destination. The more complete the fitment information, the more precise the quotation can be.
- Carrier brand and model
- Attachment type and quantity
- Working application and material
- Destination country or port
